Notice.

1. In case of apprehended attack on the Colony it is proposed to make an order under regulation 44 of the Defence Regulations, 1940, limiting the use of motor vehicles on roads. Such limitation will come into force at any time after the date of publication of the order. Thereafter no person will be allowed to use a motor vehicle without the written authority of the Controller of Land Transport.

2. (1) The following motor vehicles will be exempt from the terms of the order-

(a) all vehicles operated by the Naval, Military or Air Force Authorities, or by the Hong Kong Government;

(b) motor buses, taxicabs, public cars and hearses, unless specifically included in the order.

(2) Vehicles, including private cars, which have already been registered with the Controller of Land Transport and approved by him for the use of members of the fighting or essential services or for the use of public utility companies should not be included in applications for authorization under the order.

3. Any person who considers that the use of his motor vehicle is essential for the fulfilment of his official, profes- sional or business duties and who desires to obtain the written authority of the Controller of Land Transport to use his vehicle after the date when restriction comes into force should apply now in writing to the Controller of Land Transport, Government Trade School, Wood Road, Wanchai.
