ORDINANCE No. 32 of 1939. (COMPULSORY SERVICE).

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, pursuant to Section 11 (7) of the Compulsory Service Ordinance, 1939, to permit the following persons to quit the Hong Kong Defence Reserve :-

1941.

Shannon, Russell Glover, with effect from 17th October,

Mitchell, Douglas, with effect from 18th October, 1941.

It is hereby notified that WILFRID FANE EDGE has been re-assigned from the Key-Posts Group to the Combatant Group in the Hong Kong Defence Reserve, under the pro- visions of the Compulsory Service Ordinance, 1939.

ORDINANCE No. 10 of 1933. (VOLUNTEER).

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 10 of the Volunteer Ordinance, 1933, the General Officer Commanding the Troops, with the approval of the Governor after con- sultation with the Commandant of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, rescinds paragraph (1) of Regulation 7 of the Hong Kong Volunteer Regulations published as Govern- ment Notification No. 696 in the Gazette of the 25th August, 1939, and substitutes the following paragraph therefor :----

7.—(1) The appointment, promotion and reduction in rank of all warrant and non-commissioned officers are vested in the Commandant :

Provided that any volunteer who feels himself aggrieved by any reduction of rank may appeal through the Com- mandant to the General Officer Commanding the Troops whose decision shall be final.
