INSTRUCTIONS MADE BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR UNDER THE CIVIL DEFENCE CORPS REGULATIONS, 1941, PRESCRIBING THE PERIOD OF ENROLMENT AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE OF MEMBERS OF THE AUXILIARY

LABOUR CORPS.

1. These Instructions may be cited as the Hong Kong Citation. Auxiliary Labour Corps Instructions, 1941.

2. In these Instructions--

(a) "Corps means the Auxiliary Labour Corps; (b) Controller means the officer who for the time being holds the office of Controller of Labour;

(c) "Deputy Controller means the officer who for the time being holds the office of Deputy Controller of Labour;

(d) officers" means Assistant to the Controller of Labour, Camp Commandants, Platoon Commanders, Transport Officers, Assistant Transport Officers, Stores Officers and Quartermaster Sergeants;

(e) "members" includes all persons who are enrolled for service in the Corps, irrespective of rank;

("Corps equipment" includes all uniform clothing, boots, accoutrements, badges, tools and other gear and effects supplied by the Government and issued to a member of the Corps;

(g) the period of the present emergency means the period ending with such date as the Governor may by order declare to be the date on which the emergency which was the occasion of making these Instructions came to an end.

5.-(1) The Controller or the Government recruiting Enrolment organization may enrol in the Corps-

(a) such persons as are or may be enrolled in the essential services group of the Hong Kong Defence Reserve under the Compulsory Service Ordinance, 1939; and

(b) such persons as qualify for enrolment in accordance. with the Civil Defence Corps Regulations for the time being in force, for a term not exceeding the period of the present emergency and have signed the following declaration----

"I have read or had explained to me the Instructions governing the Auxiliary Labour Corps and I agree to carry out such duties-general or particular-as may be allotted to me by duly authorized officers of the Corps. I am not enrolled in any other civil defence corps or in the police reserve or in the special constabulary nor shall I while a member of the Corps enrol in such other forces without the consent of the Controller.”
