INSTRUCTIONS MADE BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR UNDER THE CIVIL DEFENCE CORPS REGULATIONS, 1941, PRESCRIBING THE PERIOD OF ENROLMENT AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE OF MEMBERS OF THE AUXILIARY FIRE SERVICE.

1. These Instructions may be cited as the Hong Kong Auxiliary Fire Service Instructions, 1941.
2. In these Instructions-
(a) "Chief Officer" means the Chief Officer of the Auxiliary Fire Service who shall be the person holding the office of Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade;
(b) "Superintendent of the Auxiliary Fire Service" means the officer who shall for the time being hold the office of the Superintendent of the Auxiliary Fire Service ;
(c) "Deputy Superintendent and Transport Officer of the Auxiliary Fire Service" means the officer who shall for the time being hold the office of Deputy Superintendent and Transport Officer of the Auxiliary Fire Service;
(d) "officers" means the Divisional Officers, Assistant Divisional Officers, the Mechanical Engineer, the Communica- tions Officer and Quartermaster of the Auxiliary Fire Service;
(e) "subordinate officer" means Section Officer, Sub- Officer, Secretary and Assistant Mechanical Engineer of the Auxiliary Fire Service;
(f) "members" includes all persons who are enrolled for service in the Auxiliary Fire Service, irrespective of rank;
(g) "Service" means the Auxiliary Fire Service;
(h) “service equipment' includes all uniform clothing, boots, accoutrements, badges, tools and other gear and effects supplied by the Government and issued to a member of the Auxiliary Fire Service;
(i) "superior officer" when used in relation to a member includes an officer of the Auxiliary Fire Service and of the Fire Brigade;
() "the period of the present emergency" means the period ending with such date as the Governor may by order declare to be the date on which the emergency which was the occasion of making these Instructions came to an end.
3. The Service shall consist of a Chief Officer, a Superintendent and such members as may from time to time be appointed or enrolled.
4. The Chief Officer, subject to the control of the Governor and the provisions of these Instructions, shall be charged with the direction and administration of the Service.
