Order.

In exercise of the powers conferred on me by regula- tion 50 of the Defence Regulations, 1940, I, the STORES CONTROLLER, with the consent of His Excellency the Governor, hereby revoke the crder published as Government Notification 1089 in the Gazette of 27th September, 1940, and instead make the following order-

1. Every person who, on or after the date of this order. has possession, custody or control of any firewood for the purpose of sale shall deliver to the Stores Controller—

(a) forthwith, a return in Form 1 in the Schedule of the particulars there specified;

(b) weekly before noon on Monday, or if Monday is a general holiday, before noon on the first succeeding day which is not a holiday, a return in Form 2 in the Schedule of the particulars there specified for the week ending at noon on the Saturday before the return is due.

2. Returns shall be signed by the person required to make them and shall bear his "chop".

3. Returns may be delivered by post to the Stores Con- troller at the Government Stores Department, No. 249 Electric Road, North Point.

4. The Stores Controller may dispense with any return or allow delivery of any return to be postponed.

5. No person who has possession, custody or control of any firewood for the purpose of sale shall sell or remove from his possession, custody or control any such firewood except by written permission of the Stores Controller or in accord- ance with paragraph 8 of this order. A person who carries on the business of buying and selling firewood shall declare to the Stores Controller the premises in which he keeps fire- wood and shall keep firewood in those premises only. He shall be deemed to have contravened this paragraph if he keeps firewood in any premises other than those so declared.

6.-(1) Every person carrying on the business of buying and selling firewood shall to the satisfaction of the Stores Controller keep proper books of account showing every trans- action made relating to firewood.

(2) Every person carrying on or employed in connexion. with the business of buying and selling firewood shall, on demand by an inspector of firewood, produce to him any books, accounts or other documents relating to that business and shall allow him to weigh, measure and otherwise examine any firewood kept on the business premises.

7. For the purposes of this order an inspector of fire- wood may enter and inspect any premises in which the business of buying and selling firewood is carried on, or any premises used in connexion with any such business, or any premises which he may have reasonable grounds for suspecting to be used for the purposes of any such business or for storing firewood in contravention of this order.
