NOTE. The above order supersedes the order published as Government Notification No. 700 in the Gazette of 6th June, 1941, and includes (a) the amendment of standard prices effected by the orders published as Government Notifications Nos. 726, 727, 763, 788 and 789, in the Gazettes of 13th, 20th and 27th June, 1941, and (b) the standard prices fixed by that order and by this order for articles of food not separately specified in the previous order.

EXCHANGE FUND.

POSITION AT 31ST DECEMBER, 1940.

No. 812.-Reference is invited to the statement regarding the Exchange Fund published on 31st December, 1940, which indicated the position at 30th June, 1940. During the six months which followed no purchases or sales of silver were effected and no operations in the local exchange market were found necessary.

On 31st December, 1940, the Certificates of Indebtedness outstanding amounted to $181,831,630 which is the equivalent of £11,364,477 @ Is/3d, the middle market rate on that day. The total assets of the Fund amounted to £13,096,748 of which 72.11 per cent. was held in gilt edged sterling securities, 27.79 per cent. on deposit in London at call or short notice and 0.10 per cent. in silver.
