COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.
In exercise of the powers conferred by the Emergency Powers (Defence) Acts, 1939 and 1940, as applied to this Colony by the Emergency Powers (Colonial Defence) Order in Council, 1939, and the Emergency Powers (Colonial Defence) (Amendment) Order in Council, 1940, and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor makes the following regulations-
The Civil Defence Corps Regulations, 1941.
1. These regulations may be cited as the Civil Defence Citation. Corps Regulations, 1941.

2.-(1) There shall be established such corps for pur- Civil poses of civil defence or in connexion with the performance of essential services, consisting of such persons as may, in accordance with instructions given by the Governor or under the provisions of any enactment, undertake or be required to serve therein with or without pay and be accepted for such service.
(2) The corps described in the Schedule shall be deemed Schedule. to have been established under these regulations; and the Governor by notice published in the Gazette may amend the Schedule in any manner whatsoever.
(3) The period for which persons may be enrolled to serve in any such corps, and the conditions of their service therein, shall be such as may be prescribed by instructions. given by the Governor and such instructions may provide for matters relating to the corps and in particular the organization, government, discipline, offences against dis- cipline and the procedure and punishments for such offences, training, pay, clothing, equipment, duties and obligations of the members of the corps and the calling out for actual service of the corps or any members thereof, and such instructions may be made so as to apply either to all members of a corps or to any class or description of those members:
Provided that such instructions shall not require members of a corps, unless called out for actual service-
(a) to give whole time service; or
(b) to live away from their homes; or
(c) to enrol for a period exceeding the period of the present emergency,
and may provide for enabling the service of any member to be determined by competent authority at any time or, with the consent of the Governor, at the request of such member by fourteen days' notice in writing given by him.
(4) The members of any corps established under these regulations shall, in addition to any other powers which they may possess under any enactment, have such powers as the Governor may from time to time in his discretion deem neces- sary, by notice in the Gazette, to confer upon them for the proper exercise of their duties.
