It is hereby notified for general information that all persons wishing to import into Hong Kong from the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA any of the commodities set out in the Schedule attached to this notice should submit in duplicate to the office of the Controller of Trade, Post Office Building, a declaration to the effect that the goods are required SOLELY for use in Hong Kong.

Sample forms of declaration may be obtained at the office of the Controller of Trade, Post Office Building.

Declarations should be CAREFULLY filled in and should be accompanied by any supporting evidence, such as orders from local merchants.

If a declaration is approved it will be countersigned at the office of the Controller of Trade, Post Office Building, and the particulars will be cabled to the United States of America at the consignee's expense.

This procedure has been designed to assist importers and should be STRICTLY followed.

N.B.-There is no change in the system of import licensing for DYES, CHEMICALS and DRUGS under Govern- ment Notification 382 of 4th April, 1941, but licences for the importation of any of the following must be accompanied by a declaration of local consumption-

Ammonia and Ammonium

Compounds.

Chlorine,

Dimethylaniline.

Diphenylamine.

Nitric Acid.

Nitrates.

Nitrocellulose, having a nitrogen

content of less than 129%.

Soda Lime.

Sodium Acetate, anhydrous.

Strontium Chemicals.

Sulphuric Acid, fuming.
