ORDINANCE No. 6 of 1901. (RATING).

His Excellency the Governor in Council has been pleased to order and it is hereby ordered under Section 38A of the Rating Ordinance, 1901, Ordinance No. 6 of 1901, that refund of rates for the year 1st April, 1941 to 31st March, 1942 may be made where, although a tenement has not been wholly vacant, one or more floors thereof have been vacant during the whole of any calendar month in the said year, provided that-

-

(1) the owner elected during the period 3rd to 12th January, 1939, to obtain a refund on vacant floors for the tenement concerned by duly signing and returning to the Office of the Assessor within that period the form sent out for that purpose,

(2) the rates for such tenement were paid in advance during the first month of the quarter in respect of any part of which a refund is claimed.

(3) notice of vacancy was given before the 16th day of the first month of the period of vacancy.

(4) the claim for refund in respect of the whole or a part of any quarter has been sent in to the Assessor's Office within fifteen days after the expiration of the quarter.

ORDINANCE No. 40 of 1912. (VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC REGULATION).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 3 of the Vehicles and Traffic Regulation Ordinance, 1912, the Governor in Council hereby amends the regulations made under the said Ordinance appearing on pages 723 to 803 of Volume II of the Regulations of Hong Kong (1937 edition).

Amendment.

Regulation 48 (5) is deleted and the following is sub- stituted therefor:

(5) unless actually engaged in taking fares stand at the rear end of his vehicle in the case of a double entrance vehicle or at the door way of a single entrance vehicle when the same is in motion.
