COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

In exercise of the powers conferred by the Emergency Powers (Defence) Acts, 1939 and 1940, as applied to this Colony by the Emergency Powers (Colonial Defence) Order in Council, 1939, and the Emergency Powers (Colonial Defence) (Amendment) Order in Council, 1940, and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor amends regulation 33 of the Defence Regulations, 1940, published in the Gazette Extraordinary of 25th June, 1940, as Government Notification 709 and appearing on page 34 of the volume of Hong Kong War Emergency Legislation, by the rescission of the words at the end of paragraph (1) thereof, no person being an enemy alien shall be therein without the permission of such authority or person as may be specified in the order", and the substitution therefor of the words. no person being either an enemy alien or a person who was not at the beginning of that day resident in the said area shall be therein without the permission of such authority or person as may be specified in the order".

In exercise of the powers conferred by regulation 33 of the Defence Regulations, 1940, as amended by Government Notification 473 published in the Gazette of 25th April, 1941, His Excellency the Governor in the interests of defence hereby amends the order made under the said regulation and published in the Gazette of 18th October, 1940, as Govern- ment Notification 1151 and appearing on pages 166 and 167 of the volume of Hong Kong War Emergency Legislation, by the substitution for paragraph 4 thereof of the following paragraph-

4. This order shall not apply to any person who is not an enemy alien.
