No. 284. In accordance with regulation 8 of the Regulations as to grant, forfei- ture, restoration and other matters concerning The Efficiency Medal in regard to the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, published as Notification No. 579 in the Gazette of 2nd August, 1935, His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to authorize the following award : --

COMMISSIONERS POWERS ORDINANCE, 1886.
PROCLAMATION No. 2 OF 1941.
No. 285.-It is hereby notified for general information that the first public session of the Commissioners appointed to inquire into the affairs of the Immigration Depart- ment will be held shortly on a date to be announced in the Gazette and all persons wishing to testify before the said Commissioners are requested to give written notice to the undersigned at the Colonial Secretary's Office by the earliest possible date together with a brief memorandum of the evidence which they propose to offer.
The examination of witnesses will be held in public but the Commissioners may, if requested to do so for good cause, direct that the whole or part of any witness's evidence may be taken in private. Any request to this effect should be included in the above- mentioned memorandum.

No. 286.-Notice is hereby given, pursuant to section 3 (3) of Ordinance No. 13 of 1886, that the examination of witnesses by the Commissioners appointed to inquire into the affairs of the Immigration Department, will be conducted in public at the Council Chamber, Colonial Secretary's Office on Tuesday, the 11th of March, at 10 a.m.
