It is hereby notified for general information that, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the first proviso to section 4 of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, as enacted by Government Notification 545 published in, the Gazette of 17th May, 1940, His Excellency the Governor in Council has, on 30th November, 1940, specified the state of Norway as a state a subject of which may act as master or officer of any grade in a British ship if he is in possession of an authority in accordance with that proviso to act in such capacity.

ORDINANCE No. 37 of 1932. (POLICE FORCE).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 (1) of the Police Force Ordinance, 1932, the Governor in Council further amends the Police Pensions Regulations set forth in Government Notification No. 688 published in the Gazette of the 20th October, 1933, as follows:-

Amendment.

The following appendix is substituted for the appendix to the said regulations as added thereto by Government Notification No. 6 published in the Gazette of the 4th January, 1935.

APPENDIX.

MARKING SYSTEM AND SCALE.

All punishments inflicted for offences under sections 14 and 15 of the Police Force Ordinance, 1932, and all cautions, reprimands, and severe reprimands in lieu of any of the punishments authorized by the said sections 14 and 15, will be entered in the Defaulter's Sheet and noted on the offender's Record Card. Black Marks will attach to such punishments, cautions, reprimands and severe repri- mands, and to fines by a Magistrate and to imprisonment with or without a fine for any offence under the Police Force Ordinance. 1932, in accordance with the following scales :-----

1ST SCALE (EUROPEANS).

(1) Caution

(2) Reprimand

(3) Severe reprimand

One black mark.

Two black marks.

Three black marks.

(4) Every fine, not imposed by a Magistrate, of $1 and under.

One black mark.
