No. S. 429.-The Offices of the Supreme Court will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Christmas Vacation which begins on the 24th instant and terminates on the 1st January, 1913, (both days inclusive), except on Public Holidays when the Offices will be entirely closed.

No. S. 430. The following particulars of letting by tender of certain granite quar- ries in the Island of Hongkong, and Kowloon and New Territories are published.

Sealed tenders, which should be clearly marked "Tender for Quarries ", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Monday, the 6th January, 1913.

Tenders must be in form which will be supplied by the Director of Public Works upon deposit of a sum of $10.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the highest or any tender.

Particulars and conditions of the letting by tender by order of His Excellency the Governor of the following lots of Crown Land in Hongkong, Kowloon and New Territories, for the purpose of Quarrying Granite for a period extending from the 15th January to 31st December, 1913.

CONDITIONS OF LETTING.

1. The Lots are delineated on plans deposited in the Crown Lands and Survey Office, Public Works Department.

2. Each Party, whose Lender may be accepted in writing for all or any of the Lots, shall pay into the Colonial Treasury within seven days of the date of such acceptance, a sum equivalent to rent of such Lots or Lot from 15th January to 30th June. He shall then be entitled to, and shall be granted a permit to quarry granite from each Lot or Lots for a period extending from the 15th January to the 31st December 1913 at the rental or rentals specified in his tender, a proportionate part of such being payable in advance on or before the 13th day of January and on the 1st day of July 1913; and ou production of the Treasury receipt for such a permit to quarry will be issued by the Director of Public Works.

3. The Government will permit, if practicable, each Permittee to erect and maintain such temporary piers and jetties as may in the opinion of the Director of Public Works be reasonably necessary for the purpose of shipping stone cut in the Quarries into junks or boats; the sites and dimensions of such temporary piers and jetties shall be subject in all respects to the approval of the Director of Public Works, who may at any time direct the removal of any such temporary pier or jetty to any other place; the expense of such removal to be borne by the Permittee.
