KOWLOON-CANTON RAILWAY.

No. S. 420.-It is hereby notified that scaled tenders, which should be clearly marked "Tender for the supply of Sleepers and Crossing Timbers", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Friday, the 17th January, 1913, for the supply of 5,000 Australian Hardwood Hewn Sleepers and 650 Crossing Timbers for the British Section of the Kowloon-Canton Railway.

No tender will be received unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $100 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if such person refuses to carry out his tender, if accepted,

The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract in the usual form of Government Contracts and to give security for the sum of $1,000 in a bond with two sure- ties conditional for the due and faithful performance of the terms of such contract.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

For specification and further particulars apply to the Railway Head Office, Kowloon.

Western Australia-North-West Coast.

NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 1st day of November, 1912, a Second Order Dioptric Double Flash White Light, comprising an optic of four panels making one revolution in 15 seconds, two flashes every 7 seconds, duration of flash 3/10ths of a second, 215,000 candle power, will be exhibited from a Concrete Tower of light grey colour; height of building from base to vane 54 feet, situated on Vlaming Head, lat. 21deg. 48min. South, long. 114deg. 6min. 30sec. East; height of focal plane above high water 240 feet; range of visibility in clear weather, 22 miles.
