No. S. 388.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders, which should be clearly marked "Tender for the supply of Coal", will be received at this Office until Noon of Monday, the 9th December, for the supply of Coal for the Government, excluding Government Launches, for the space of one year from the 1st January next.
Best Japanese Steam Coal and Best Picked Japanese Household Coal are, when required, to be delivered free of charge at the various Government Hospitals and all the Stations and Buildings under the control of the Director of Public Works including Tytam Tuk Pump- ing Station and all Government Buildings including those in the New Territories.
No tender will be received unless the person tendering produces a receipt to the effect that he has deposited in the Colonial Treasury the sum of $100 as a pledge of the bona fides of his offer, which sum shall be forfeited to the Crown, if such person shall refuse to carry out his tender, should the tender be accepted.
For further information and forms of tender apply at this Office, and only these forms must be used.
The successful tenderer will be required to sign a formal contract containing conditions to be prescribed by the Government and to deposit as security the sum of $200 in the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in the name of the Colonial Treasurer: failing compliance with these requirements the sum deposited with the tender will be forfeited.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

No. S. 389.-It is hereby notified that information has been received from the Military Authorities that Gun Practice will be carried out as under:
On Tuesday, the 19th November :--
"Night Practice", from Lyemun, in a North-Easterly direction, between the
hours of 7 p.m. and midnight.
All ships, junks and other vessels are to keep clear of the ranges.
