SOYA-MISAKI LIGHTHOUSE TO BE RELIGHTED.
NOTICE is hereby given that the construction work of Soya-misaki Lighthouse at the north end of Soya-misaki, Kitami province, having been completed, the following permanent light will be shown on and after October 1st, 1912, and at the same time the temporary light will be withdrawn (see Notification No. 476 of Department of Communications, May, 1912):-
NOTE
Position-Lat. 45°31′23′′ N.. Long, 141°56′10′′ E. (According to the Japanese
Admiralty chart No. 33.)
Description :--Octagonal iron tower with black and white horizontal bands. Height of light --537 ft. from the base and 134-2 ft. above the water. Character of light :-3rd order group flashing white light, showing 4 flashes in
quick succession during 15 seconds followed by an eclipse of 15 seconds. Illuminated are:—From N. 84°19′ E. through E. S. and W. to N. 66°41′ W.
(Magnetic bearings taken from seaward.)
Candle power :-45,000.
Distance visible :- -18 nautical miles in clear weather.
-The fog bell operated heretofore has been withdrawn and a fog siren is now
under instalment.

Ixperimental Gas-lighted Submarine Bell Buoy to be Established.
NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 4th October an experimental Gas-lighted Submarine Bell Buoy, showing an occulting white light every 8 seconds, thus:---.

will be established in a position from which Gutzlaff Lighthouse bears S. 48° W. (magne- tic), distant 10 miles.
The submarine bell is worked by wave motion and will give an irregular sound.
