STRAITS SETTLEMENTS.
THE attention of masters of vessels leaving for ports in the Straits Settlements is called to the following Straits Settlements Quarantine Rule:-
"The importation of the following susceptible objects or merchandise from
Plague-infected ports is prohibited :--
(a.) Body liuen, wearing apparel, clothing and bedding which has been used, (except when conveyed as baggage in which case entry may be per- mitted subject to such precautions as to disinfection being taken as the Port Health Officer may direct) ;
(b.) Rags and shoddy, including rags compressed by hydraulic power and
conveyed as merchandise in bales;
(e.) Embroidery, rags and sacks which have been used and carpets, ;
(d.) Raw hides and fresh untanned skins ;
(e.) Fresh remains of animals, hoofs, hair, felt, raw silk and wool ; (f) Hair of all kinds."
