NOTICES TO MARINERS.
Translation of a Notice issued by the Kwantung Government General Marine Bureau on the 3rd June, 1912. (Amendment of a Notice issued September 8th, 1911.)
CARGO and parcels, whether in boxes, crates, matting or cloth packages, entering DAIREN direct or via ports, from Shanghai, Amoy, or Hongkong may not, if the condition of the outer coverings or bindings is such as to cause a suspicion that rats have taken shelter therein, be landed until proper measures have been taken for the destruction of the said rats.
Such measures shall be carried out either on the ship itself or on the lighters according as the Superintendent of the Marine Bureau directs. In the case of lighters the measures shall be carried out after the cargo or parcels have been transferred from the ship to the said lighters, and in each instance the substance used for the destruction of the rats shall be carbonic oxide gas.
If the cargo or parcels in question are transferred to lighters, the expenses thus incurred shall be payable by the owner or consignee.

UNTIL further notice vessels entering DAIREN, direct or niâ ports, from Shanghai, Amoy, or Hongkong must, whether moored alongside the wharves or anchored in the offing, fix rat-guards to the cables &c. between themselves and the shore or between themselves and lighters, small boats, or other vessels, an they must also take the necessary steps to pre- vent rats from passing from the ship to the shore or to other vessels, or vice versa, by way of the companion-ladders, gangways, and other adits or exits.

REMOVAL OF BUOY.
Ir is hereby notified for the information of Mariners that the small spherical buoy marking the pinnacle rock off the sub port of Talayi has been removed for overhaul on the 21st May 1912 and will be replaced about the 1st October 1912 when the working season again commences.

MIN RIVER-FOOCHOW DISTRICT.
Entrance to Pagoda Anchorage.
NEW CHANNEL BUOYED.
NOTICE is hereby given that the chann 1 to the westward of the Niutau Rock has closed, and that a new channel has opened to the eastward of that rock. The Niutau Rock Buoy has been moved to mark the new channel, and is now moored in 25 feet of water at low water of sping tides, on the eastern edge of the Niutau Rock. From the Buoy, Single Tree bears S. 10° W., distant 9-5 cables. This Buoy is now painted red, and marks the starboard side of the channel for vessels bound
up river.
