5.-(1) The Reverend Michael Francis Thomas Cham- bers the present Procurator in Hongkong of the Irish Province of the Order of Franciscans Minor, having furnished to the Governor satisfactory evidence of his appointment to that office, shall for the purposes of this Ordinance be deemed to be the Procurator in Hongkong of the Irish Province of the Order of Franciscans Minor until the appointment in his stead of some other person as such Procurator.

(2) When any other person is appointed to the office of Procurator in Hongkong of the Irish Province of the Order of Franciscans Minor such person shall within three weeks after his appointment or within such further time as may be allowed by the Governor furnish to the Governor satisfactory evidence of his appointment.

(3) A Notification in the Gazette under the hand of the Colonial Secretary that such evidence has been furnished to the Governor by such person shall be conclusive evidence of such appointment.

6. All deeds and other instruments requiring the seal of the corporation shall be sealed in the presence of the said Procurator or his attorney and shall be signed by him or his attorney, and such signing shall be taken as sufficient evidence of the due sealing of such deeds and other instruments and all deeds instruments and other documents and writings requiring the signature of the corporation shall be signed by such Procurator or his attorney.

7. Nothing in this Ordinance shall affect or be deemed to affect the rights of His Majesty the King, His Heirs or Successors, or the rights of any body politic or corporate or of any other person except such as are mentioned in this Ordinance and those claiming by from or under them.

Objects and Reasons.

1. The Irish Province of the Order of Franciscans Minor controls and manages a number of Schools and Mission Stations throughout the Republic of China. The Order has recently commenced work in Hongkong and has entered into negotiations for the purpose of acquiring land in the Colony for the erection thereon of buildings for the purpose of carrying on its activities.

2. In order to secure perpetual succession and the other advantages of incorporation it is proposed that the Procurator in Hongkong of the Irish Province of the Order of Fran- ciscans Minor be incorporated as a corporation sole and the Ordinance now proposed follows in its main lines other incorporation Ordinance which have been passed from time- to time.
