An Ordinance to amend the Interpretation Ordinance, 1911.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Interpretation Amendment Ordinance, 1937.

2.-(1) Section 39 of the Interpretation Ordinance, of Ordinance 1911, is amended by the repeal of paragraph (4) thereof under the heading “B.-Colonial definitions" and the sub- stitution of the following paragraph therefor :-

1911, s. 39, B (4).

Ordinance No. 30 of 1900.

Amendment of Ordinance No. 31 of 1911, s. 39, A (12),

s. 39, B (12)

and s. 39, C (1).

"(4) New Kowloon' means that portion of the New Territories which is enclosed by the line delineated in red and shewn upon a plan marked New Kowloon' dated the 8th day of December, 1937, signed by the Director of Public Works, countersigned by the Governor and deposited in the Land Office.”

(2) The plan referred to in this section shall, as from the commencement of this Ordinance, be substituted for and shall for all purposes be deemed to be the plan deposited in the Land Office under the Extension of Laws Ordinance, 1900.

3. Section 39 of the Interpretation Ordinance, 1911, is amended--

(a) by the addition, at the end of paragraph (12) thereof under the heading "A.-Official definitions", of the words ", and "Treasurer' includes the Financial Secretary and the Accountant General.";

(b) by the repeal of paragraph (12) thereof under the heading "B.-Colonial definitions" and the substitution of the following paragraph therefor :-

"(12) 'Health Officer' includes the Director of Medical Services, any medical officer appointed as a Health Officer by the Governor, any Colonial Veterinary Surgeon and any officer for the time being performing the duties of a Health Officer
