No. S. 320.-It is hereby notified that sealed tenders in quintuplicate, which should be clearly marked "Tender for repairs to No. 7 Police Launch", will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Friday, the 8th day of October, 1937.

A list of work may be obtained at the Assistant Government Marine Surveyor's Office, Government Slipway, Yaumati.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

The work to be carried out to the satisfaction of the Government Marine Surveyor, and to be duly completed within the number of working days specified by the tender to commence from the date of handing over of the launch to tenderers for repair; failing completion within such time deduction will be made from the contract price, by way of liquidated damages for delay, at the rate of $30 for each and every subsequent day until and including the date of due completion of the work.

In view of the possibility of attacks by Chinese or Japanese aircraft on hostile shipping, pilots of civil aircraft are advised to avoid flying in the vicinity of armed vessels.

Japan having declared the whole of the Chinese Coast closed to Chinese shipping following arrangements have been agreed to as between Great Britain and Japan. Masters of British merchant ships in the Far East are advised that if they are requested to stop by a Japanese warship and if none of II.M. ships is present, they should allow Japanese to board the ship in order to identify her nationality and examine certificate of registry. On each occasion a report should immediately be made to the nearest British Naval Authority. When one of H.M. ships is present Japanese will request. her to carry out verification of nationality if required.
