NOTICE OF FIRING PRACTICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DEFENCES (FIRING AREAS) ORDINANCE, 1936.

Firing practice will be carried out from Stonecutters West Battery, between the hours of 8 p.m. and midnight, on 26th August, 1937. Firing Area "E" will be affected.

Anti-aircraft firing practice will be carried out from Stonecutters Island (Centurion Battery), between the hours of 8.30 a.m. and 4 p.m., on 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th August, 1937. Firing Area "E" will be affected.

Machine gun firing will be carried out from the western shore of Stonecutters Island, between the hours of 7 p.m. and midnight, on the 23rd August, 1937. Firing Area "E" will be affected.

If, for any reason, machine gun firing cannot be carried out on 23rd August, it will take place on 24th August, 1937.

In accordance with sub-section 4 of section 4 of the Defences (Firing Areas) Ordinance, 1936, masters of vessels and pilots of aircraft exempt from the operation of this Ordinance under section 10 are warned to assist in the carrying out of the firing practice by hastening through the Firing Area affected, or by consenting to be towed out of the Firing Area, if necessary, by any vessel acting under the orders of the Military Authorities.

No. S. 238.-Sealed tenders in quadruplicate which should be clearly marked Tenders for the supply of Coal to the Hong Kong Government", will be received at the Treasury until Noon of Monday, 13th September, 1937, for the supply of Coal to the Government for a period of one year as from 1st January, 1938.

The quantity of coal will vary according to requirements, and prices should be quoted for each of the following grades.

(a) Anthracite Coal about 150 tons.

(b) Household Coal (Double Screened) about 1,800 tons.

(c) Launch Dust Coal about 10,000 tons.

(1) 80% Lump Coal for Pumping Stations, and Quarries, &c., about 8,300 tons.

1. Before final acceptance of the tenders, tenderers must be prepared to forward to

the Government Analyst on demand, samples of the Coal offered.

2. The origin and name of the Coal should be stated in each case. The prices quoted should include delivery charges to destination.
