COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.
No. 866.-It is notified for general information that from 1st December, 1937, all British subjects of non-Chinese race visiting Canton or other places in South China should be in possession of valid passports which have been visaed for travel in Chinese territory or which have been endorsed to the effect that the bearer is a resident of Hong Kong. Such endorsements will be accepted by the Chinese Authorities in lieu of a Chinese visa, and may be obtained on application to the Passports Office at the Colonial Socretariat. The charge for a first endorsement is four dollars except in connection with the issue and renewal of passports when an inclusive fee is charged. Endorsements are valid for one year and will be renewed free of charge.

In accordance with the provisions of section 4 of the Unclaimed Balances Ordin- auce, 1929, His Excellency the Governor hereby directs that the sum of money, parti- culars of which appear hereunder, shall be transferred to the general revenue of the Colony. This transfer is subject to the provisions contained in the said Ordinance as to refunds.
