THE HONG KONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, OCTOBER 22, 1937.
AND WHEREAS on the 1st April, 1937, Burma ceased to be part of India, and it is expedient to declare that Part II of the Fugitive Offenders Act, 1881, shall apply to British Burma :
NOW, THEREFORE, His Majesty, by virtue of the Powers in this behalf by the Fugitive Offenders Acts 1881 and 1915 and otherwise in His Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
(1) The Principal Order shall, with effect from the 1st April, 1937, be read and construed as if British Burma were included in the group of British Possessions and Protected States mentioned in Article (1) of the said Order :
(2) The Governor-General of India, and the Governors of Burma, Ceylon, Hong Kong, and the Straits Settlements shall cause this Order to be proclaimed in the Territories and Colonies under their respective Governments:
(3) The Governor, as defined in the Straits Settlements and Protected States Fugitive Offenders Orders in Council, 1916, 1917 and 1937 shall cause this Order to be proclaimed in the Protected State in which he exercises the functions of Governor for the purposes of the Fugitive Offenders Acts, 1881 and 1915.
And the Most Honourable the MARQUESS OF ZETLAND and the Right Honourable WILLIAM ORMSBY-GORE, two of His Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State are to give the necessary directions herein accordingly.
