GAS CYLINDERS:

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN.

1. As several kinds of compressed gas are now used for various purposes in connection with civil aviation, precautions should be taken to prevent one kind being mistaken for another.

2. British Standards Specifications Nos. 341 and 349 give particulars of the identification markings for gas cylinders, and the dimensions for the connections on valves for gas cylinders, respectively. The following particulars have been extracted for guidance :-

3. Compressed nitrogen may be used as a substitute for compressed air in high pressure systems pertaining to controls or units such as wing flaps, air brakes, pneumatic oleo legs
