APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 271.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. FRANK ARTHUR HOPKINS to act as Superintendent of Prisons, during the absence on leave of Mr. JOHN WILLIAM FRANKS, or until further notice, with effect from the 17th April, 1937.

No. 272.-Ilis Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased, under Regulation No. 1 made by the Governor in Council under section 4 of the Nurses Rezistration Ordinance, 1931, Ordinance No. 1 of 1931, to appoint Dr. AGNES LILIAS JENKINS DOVEY to be a Member of the Nurses Board for a period of three years, with effect from 1st May, 1937, vice Dr. GWENDOLYN RUTH NASH, resigned.

No. 273. It is hereby notified that during the absence from the Colony of Herr H. GIPPERICH, Consul-General for Germany at Hong Kong, Mr. A. GELEWSKY will, until further notice, be in charge of the Consulate-General for Germany.

No. 274.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government, in accordance with instructions received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, has been pleased to recognise Mr. GENNARO PAGANO DI MELITO, as Consul-General for Italy at Hong Kong.

16th April, 1937.

No. 275.-His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government has been pleased to appoint Mr. STI PHEN FRANCIS BALFOUR to be Chief Assistant to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs, with effect from this date.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

With reference to Government Notification No. 263 in the Gazette of the 1st May, 1931, it is hereby notified under section 6 (3) of the Basel Evangelical Missionary Society, Ordinance No. 5 of 1927, that satisfactory proof of the appointment of the Rev. KARL F. ERNY to act as President in this Colony of the Basel Evangelical Missionary Society during the absence of Mr. A. RITZI has been placed in the hands of His Excellency the Governor.
