COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

No. 260. Notice is hereby given that NORMAN LOCKHART SMITH, Esquire, has, by virtue of the provisions of the Letters Patent passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom constituting the office of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and providing for the Government thereof, to-day assumed the adminis- tration of the Government of the Colony on the departure of His Excellency the Governor, and has taken the prescribed oaths.
