COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

The following Royal Warrant dated the 1st November, 1935, permitting the grant of one bar to the Colonial Police and Fire Brigades Long Service Medal to any holder of the medal who completes twenty-five years' qualifying service and the grant of an additional bar on his completing thirty years of such service, is published for general information.

The Royal Warrant dated the 23rd March, 1934, was published in the Gazette of the 10th January, 1936, as Government Notification No. 36.

THE COLONIAL POLICE AND FIRE BRIGADES

LONG SERVICE MEDAL.

GEORGE THE FIFTH, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions. beyond the Seas King, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India, to all to whom these presents shall come: Greeting.

WHEREAS, We did, by Royal Warrant under Our Sign Manual dated the 23rd March, 1934, institute and create a medal to be designated and styled "The Colonial Police and Fire Brigades Long Service Medal which should be award- ed to subordinate officers and constables of Police Forces, and to persons holding equivalent positions and rendering whole- time service in properly organised Fire Brigades, in Our Colonies and in Territories under Our Protection, who should complete not less than eighteen years' qualifying service as defined in certain Regulations to be issued or approved from time to time by Our Governor or Officer Administering the Government, with the prior approval of one of Our Principal Secretaries of State:

AND WHEREAS We are desirous of recognising by some additional mark of Our Royal favour longer periods of good service rendered by the said members of Police Forces and Fire Brigades in Our Colonies and in Territories under Our Protection:
