No. 32.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under the provisions of section 3, sub-section (1) of the Factories and Workshops Ordinance, 1932, Ordinance No. 27 of 1932, DENIS WILLIAM PHILLIPS to act as Assistant Inspector of Labour, Factories and Workshops, with effect from 11th January, 1937.

NOTICES.
COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.
With reference to Government Notification No. 32 published in the Gazette of the 16th January, 1931, relating to the Treaty of Commerce and Navigation of 1st March, 1930 between His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and the Turkish Government, and the Anglo-Turkish Conven- tion of 15th January, 1930 respecting Commercial Travellers and Samples, Government Notification No. 918 published in the Gazette of the 30th November, 1934, relating to the denunciation of the Treaty by the Turkish Government, and Government Notification No. 626, published in the Gazette of the 23rd August, 1935, relating to the Anglo-Turkish Agreement of 4th June, 1935 respecting Trade and Payments, it is hereby notified for general information that an Agreement between His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and the Turkish Government, respecting Trade and Clearing (with Protocol) was signed at London on the 2nd September, 1936.
A copy of the Agreement may be inspected at the Colonial Secretary's office.

NOTE. The Treaty applies to this Colony as from 3rd September, 1930. The denunciation of the Treaty by the Turkish Government, which would have taken effect on 13th Septem- ber, 1935, was suspended by Article 12 of the Agreement of 4th June, 1935, and has now been further suspended by the Agreement of 2nd September, 1936 which replaces the Agreement of 4th June, 1935, amends (in Article 16 thereof) Article 39 of the Treaty, and provides that the Treaty shall remain in force, subject to three months' notice of termina- tion, which cannot take effect while the Agreement of 2nd September, 1936 is still in operation.
