Notice to Aircraft Owners and Ground Engineers
No. 2 of the year 1937.
FLEXIBLE TUBING FOR USE IN AIRCRAFT
FUEL AND OIL SYSTEMS
1. Petro-Flex, Superflexit and Avioflexus tubing used in. civil aircraft must conform to the following D.T.D. Specifica- tions:-
Petro-Flex.-D.T.D. No. 1009 Avioflexus.-D.T.D. No. 1015
Superflexit.-D.T.D. No. 1014
and may be used only for the purposes indicated below:-
(i) Petro-Flex may be used for fuel systems but not for
oil systems.
(ii) Avioflexus may be used for both fuel systems and
oil systems.
(iii) Superflexit may be used for fuel systems, and for oil systems where the temperature of the oil does not exceed 100° C.
2. The above types of tubing must be obtained in the required lengths complete with end fittings, and no attempt must be made either to repair the tubing or to fit new end fittings. When a length of tubing becomes unserviceable, a new length must be fitted
3. When installing flexible tubes in aircraft fuel or oil systems, it is necessary to ensure that they are not bent to smaller radii than those listed in the following table, the radius in each case being measured to the centre of the tubing -
