ORDINANCE No. 39 of 1935. (DEPORTATION OF ALIENS).
I, SIR ANDREW CALDECOTT, Knight, Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Governor and Commander in Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and its Dependencies and Vice Admiral of the same, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 15 of the Deportation of Aliens Ordinance, 1935, DO HEREBY APPOINT the buildings at Stanley, known as the Hong Kong Prison, to be a House of Detention for the purposes of the said Ordinance AND I APPOINT the Super- intendent of Prisons to be the Superintendent of the said House of Detention.

No. 956.-A Qualifying Examination for appointments of Probationer Clerks (Male) in Government Service will be held in Ellis Kadoorie School Hall on Monday, 11th January, 1937, at 9 a.m., when all candidates will be examined in English Dictation, and on Thursday, 14th January, 1937, when only those who have passed in Dictation will be examined in Arithmetic, Composition, General Knowledge, Translation from English to Chinese and from Chinese to English.
The Examination will be limited this year to present members of Class I and to past students of schools who present a certificate from their late headmasters.
Present members of Class 2 and downwards will be eligible to appointments to Clerkships in future on the result of the Class 2 (School Certificate) examination which will be held for the first time next June.
Intending candidates must forward to the Colonial Secretary's Office in envelopes clearly marked marked "J. C. S. Examination" on or before Friday, 18th December, 1936, a copy of a certificate as to character and education from the Headmaster of their last school together with one unmounted photograph on the back of which should be written the candidate's name, address and date of birth.
