No. 848.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint, under section 3 of the Dentistry Ordinance, 1914, Ordinance No. 16 of 1914, Dr. GEORGE DUNCAN RALPH BLACK to be a Member of the Dental Board for a further period of three years, with effect from 28th October, 1936.

With reference to Government Notifications No. 469 of the 22nd May and No. 803 of the 2nd October, 1936, it is hereby notified that the United States has ratified the Inter- national Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1929, and that in accordance with Article 65 of the Convention the ratification will take effect on the 7th November, 1936.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

It is hereby notified that by an Agreement between His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom and the Swedish Government signed in London on the 30th April, 1936, the Government of the United Kingdom, being satisfied that provision has been made by the Swedish Government for the application of the provisions of the International Load Line Convention (subject to a modification relating to Article 3 (e) of the Convention to the effect that a new ship shall be deemed to be a ship, the keel of which is laid on or after the 1st January, 1935, all other ships being regarded as existing ships) to British non-Convention ships, has agreed that the certificates issued by or under the authority of the Swedish Government to Swedish non-Convention ships certifying that the load lines shown on the certificates have been assigned in accordance with the provisions of the Convention shall in the ports of the United Kingdom, or of any British Colony or Protectorate, or of any mandated territory in respect of which the mandate is exercised by the Government of the United Kingdom, have the same effect as the load line certificates issued by or under the authority of the Government of the United Kingdom.
