1. The Council met pursuant to adjournment. His Excellency the Governor

occupied the Chair.

ANNOUNCEMENTS.

2. His Excellency the Governor addressed the Council expressing regret at the departure of Sir THOMAS and Lady SOUTHORN from the Colony. His Excel- lency said that seldom if ever had there been a more inspiring send-off than that accorded to Sir THOMAS and Lady SOUTHORN: the best wishes of this Council went with them for the success and happiness of the adminis- tration of the Gambia. His Excellency proposed that the Clerk of Councils be instructed to forward to Sir THOMAS SOUTHORN a copy of the proceedings of the meeting.
