ORDINANCE No. 10 of 1899.
(MERCHANT SHIPPING).
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (6) and section 13 (1) of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 1899, as amended by the Merchant Shipping Amendment Ordinance, 1935, and of all other powers thereunto enabling the Governor in Council makes the following regulations:
PART I.
Preliminary.
1. For the purposes of these regulations ships are divided into the following Groups and Classes and in these regulations reference to ships of Groups or Classes refers. unless the contrary is stated, to the Groups and Classes men- tioned in this regulation.
GROUP I.
Ships engaged in the carriage of berthed passengers.
Class 1. Ships plying on international voyages. Class 2. Ships plying on short international voyages.
Ships engaged in the carriage of unberthed passengers in trades other than the pilgrim trade,
Class 3. Ships plying on international voyages. Class 4. Ships plying on international voyages in speci-
fied areas.
Class 5. Ships plying on short international voyages. Class 6. Ships plying on short international voyages in
specified areas,
Class 7. Ships plying on international coasting voyages. Class 8. Ships plying within River Trade Limits.
Ships engaged in the carriage of unberthed passengers in the pilgrim trade.
Class 9. Ships plying on international voyages. Class 10. Ships plying on short international voyages.
Ships not certified for the carriage of passengers.
Class 11. Foreign going ships.
Class 12. Tugs and salvage ships which proceed beyond
River Trade Limits.
Class 13. Ships plying within River Trade Limits.
