ORDINANCE No. 30 of 1915. (ASIATIC EMIGRATION). ORDINANCE No. 23 of 1917. (BOARDING-HOUSE).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 44 (1) of the Asiatic Emigration Ordinance, 1915, and section 3 of the Boarding-house Ordinance, 1917, the Governor in Council hereby further amends the Boarding-house rules set forth on pages 715 to 726 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925, as follows:

Amendments.

(1). Rule 24 (on page 718) is further amended by the substitution of the words "January and July" for the words "May and November" in the fourth line thereof.

(2). The following rule is inserted immediately after rule 24-

24A. (1) No person shall spit in any boarding-house except into spittoons provided for the purpose.

(2) The licensee of a boarding-house shall cause to be continuously displayed, in a conspicuous position on every floor of his licensed premises, a notice or notices of a size and form approved by the Secretary for Chinese Affairs requiring persons using the premises not to spit on the floor.

(3) The licensee of a boarding-house shall cause any phlegm, spittle or saliva found on the floor of his premises to be promptly swept up and removed; and, in the event of his providing one or more spittoons, shall cause a sufficient quantity of a disinfectant fluid to be kept continuously in such spittoons while in use, and shall thoroughly cleanse them. daily.
