9.--(1) If any such bird or any of the plumage thereof, Punishment or any dog, or any such beast, or the skin thereof, or any animal or any part thereof, is found in the possession or on the possession premises of any person, a magistrate may restore the same respectively to the owner thereof.
(2) Every person in whose possession or on whose pre- mises such bird or the plumage thereof, or such beast or the skin thereof, or such animal or any part thereof, is so found (such person knowing that the bird, beast or animal has been stolen, or that the plumage is the plumage of a stolen bird, or that the skin is the skin of a stolen beast, or that the part is a part of a stolen animal), shall upon summary con- viction be liable, for the first offence, to such fine, and for every subsequent offence, to such punishment as any person convicted of stealing any beast or bird is made liable to by section 8.

10. 13. (2) Nothing in this section or in section 14, nor any pro- ceeding, conviction or judgment to be had or taken thereupon shall prevent, lessen or impeach any remedy at law or in equity which any party aggrieved by any such offence might or would have had if this Ordinance had not been passed; but no conviction of any such offender shall be received in evidence in any action against him.
