No. 796.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the pro- motion of Second Lieutenant JOHN KEITH BOUSFIELD to the rank of Captain in the Army Service Corps Cadre of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from 12th October, 1934.

No. 797.-His Excellency the Governor has, under instructions received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, been pleased to appoint Mr. NORMAN LOCKHART SMITH to be Secretary for Chinese Affairs in place of Mr. ALAN EUSTACE WOOD retired, with effect from 21th October, 1934.
