No. 592.-It is hereby notified that Mr. JOHN GILES PILCHER resumed duty as Private Secretary to His Excellency the Governor on 2nd August, 1934.

No. 593.-His Excellency the Governor, under instructions from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, has been pleased to recognise Mr. JOHN C. POOL, provisionally and pending the issue of His Majesty's Exequatur, as Vice-Consul of the United States of America at Hong Kong.

NOTICES.

COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.

No. 594.-With reference to notifications No. 393 of the 4th July, 1924, No. 137 of the 3rd March, 1933, and No. 614 of the 15th September, 1933, it is hereby notified that the French Government has acceded to the Anglo-French Civil Procedure Conven- tion of the 2nd February, 1922, on behalf of the French Settlements in Oceania as from the 1st August, 1933.

This accession makes the Convention effective between the French Settlements in Oceania and the Colony of Hong Kong.

The authority to whom judicial and extra-judicial Acts and "Commissions- Rogatoires" should be addressed is the Chef du Service judiciaire of the territory concerned and the language employed should be French.

A copy of the Convention may be seen on application at this Office..
