NOTICES.

No. 256.-Notice is hereby given that Sir WILFRID THOMAS SOUTHORN, Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, and Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, has, by virtue of the provi- sions of the Letters Patent passed under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom consti- tuting the office of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hong Kong and providing for the Government thereof, to-day assumed the administration of the Govern- ment of the Colony on the departure of His Excellency the Governor, and has taken the prescribed oaths.
