APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No 108.--is Majesty the KING having been pleased to approve the appoint- ment of Mr. ALASDAIR DUNCAN ATHOLL MACGREGOR, K.C., to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of this Colony in succession to Sir JOSEPH HORSFORD KEMP, Kt., C.B.E., K.C., His Excellency the Governor has, under instructions from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, been pleased to appoint the said Mr. ALASDAIR DUNCAN ATHOLL MAC- GREGOR, K.C., to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong, such appoint- ment to take effect from the 22nd February, 1934.

No. 109. -- His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. JOHN Henry Burkill LEE to be a Police Magistrate in addition to his other duties, with effect from 20th February, 1934.

No. 110. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. GEORGE BROWNBILL TWEMLOW to act as Superintendent of the Botanical and Forestry Department during the absence on leave of Mr. HAROLD GREEN, with effect from the 24th February, 1931.

23rd February, 1934.

No. 111. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under the provisions of the Statute 4 of the Second Schedule of the University Ordinance, 1911, Ordinance No. 10 of 1911, to nominate Mr. KAN TONG-PO as a member of the Court of the University of Hong Kong for a period of three years, with effect from 21st February, 1934.

No. 112. The King's Exequatur empowering Senhor RODRIGO GUILHERME ALVES GUERRA to act as Consul for Portugal in Hong Kong has received His Majesty's signature.

No. 113. In the case of applications to purchase land by sale by public auction through the Public Works Department, a deposit of two hundred dollars must be made in the Treasury before the same will be advertised in the Gazette or local papers, which deposit will be returned if the sale takes place, but will be forfeited if the applicant fails to bid the upset price.
