APPOINTMENTS, &c.
No. 18.-Ilis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Mr. THOMAS MEGARRY to be District Officer in the Northern District of the New Territories, during the absence on leave of Mr. ERNEST HILLAS WILLIAMS, with effect from 5th January, 1934.

No. 19. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to authorise Mr. THOMAS MEGARRY, under the provisions of section 58 of the New Territories Regulation Ordi- nance, 1910, Ordinance No. 34 of 1910, to hold a Small Debts Court in the New Territo- ries at the following places :-
The Magistracy, Tai Po, the Land Office, Ping Shan, and the charge rooms of the Police Stations at Au Tau, Ping Shan, Sha Tau Kok, Sai Kung, Sha Tin, Sheung Shui, Lok Ma Chau and Castle Peak, with effect from 5th January, 1934.

No. 20. It is hereby notified for general information that Mr. DOUGLAS JENKINS, Consul-General for the United States of America, assumed the temporary representation of the interests of the Republic of Panama in the Colony on the 5th January, 1934.

NOTICES.
COLONIAL SECRETARY'S DEPARTMENT.
It is hereby notified that an agreement has been concluded between the United Kingdom and Portugal regarding Flag Discrimination in Portuguese Ports.
Under the agreement, the Portuguese Government undertake to abolish all forms of flag discrimination against British shipping in Portugal and the adjacent islands (Madeira, Porto Santo, and the Azores) by the 1st of July, 1934, and in the Portuguese Colonies by the 1st of July, 1936.
The agreement applies to shipping comparties incorporat- ed in any British Colony or Protectorate or any mandated territory in respect of which the mandate is exercised by the Government of the United Kingdom, to all ships registered in any of those territories, and to goods and passengers (including emigrants) carried, or to be carried, in any such ships.
A copy of the Agreement may be seen on application at this office.
