ORDINANCE No. 23 of 1917.
(BOARDING-HOUSE).
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 44 (1) of the Asiatic Emigration Ordinance, 1915, and section 3 of the Boarding-house Ordinance, 1917, the Governor in Council hereby further amends the Boarding-house rules set forth on pages 715-726 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925 as follows:
(1) After the words "the said Second Schedule", at the end of the first paragraph of rule 3 (on page 715), the words "or the appropriate proportion thereof as prescribed in rule 20 of these rules" are inserted.
(2) Rule 20 (on page 718) is rescinded and the follow- ing rule is substituted therefor :—
20. Unless the Secretary for Chinese Affairs shall in any particular case see fit to fix an earlier date (as he is hereby empowered to do) every boarding-house licence shall expire on the 31st day of October following its issue. Where any such earlier date is so fixed the annual fee prescribed in the Second Schedule to these rules shall be apportioned so that. the fee payable shall be to the full annual fee as the period' of the licence is to one year Where, although no such carlier date is so fixed, a new licence expiring on the 31st day of October has less than six months to run the fee shall be half the full annual fee.
In any case of apportionment of the full annual fee under this regulation the relevant form in the First Schedule to these rules shall be adapted to meet the case.
(3) The note at the foot of the Second Schedule (on page 726) is rescinded and the following note is substituted therefor
NOTE. A proportionate fee will be payable in cases provided'
for in rule 20.
