ORDINANCE No. 30 of 1915.

ORDINANCE No. 23 of 1917. (BOARDING-HOUSE).

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 44 (1) of the Asiatic Emigration Ordinance, 1915, and section 3 of the Boarding-house Ordinance, 1917, the Governor in Council hereby further amends the Boarding-house rules set forth on pages 715-726 of the Regulations of Hong Kong, 1844-1925, as follows:--

(1) The following rule is inserted next after rule 31 :-

31A. The Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade, or any officer authorised by him in writing either generally or for a particular occasion, may at any time enter and inspect any licensed premises with a view to ascertaining the precautions taken and available against fire.

All reasonable facilities for such inspections shall be given and provided by the licensee, his agents and

servants.

(2) Rule 32 is rescinded and the following rule is substituted therefor:

32. Any boarding-house licence may be withdrawn or suspended by the Secretary for Chinese Affairs at any time if it appears to him that the licensee has ceased to be a fit and proper person to keep such boarding-house, or that the licensee has failed to observe the rules relating to the boarding-house for the time being in force or any of the conditions of his licence, or that, after any inspection of the premises as mentioned in rule 31A, the precautions taken and available against fire are and are likely to be unsatisfactory, or that, for any reason, the premises are not suitable or no longer suitable for use as a boarding-house.
