ORDINANCE No. 19 of 1912. (ADVERTISEMENTS REGULATION).
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Advertisements Regulation Ordinance, 1912, as amended by the Advertisements Regulation Amendment Ordinance, 1925, the Governor in Council makes the following further regulations:-
Advertisements (Neon, etc., light signs) Regulations.
1. Every person who proposes to erect or cause to be erected any Neon, electric, or other similar light sign on or in any premises shall notify the Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade in writing, before such sign is erected; and every person who, at the coming into force of these regulations, has any such sign on or in any premises occupied or used by him shall notify the Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade, in writing, within a period of one month thereafter.
2. No person shall erect, or cause to be erected, or allow to remain on or in any premises occupied or used by him any such sign which obstructs or renders less effective any fire escape or other means of escape of or from any building, or which interferes with road traffic.
3. If and whenever it appears to the Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade that any Neon, electric or other similar light sign is for or from any reason or cause, including inefficient maintenance, a serious risk as regards fire, it shall be lawful for him. by requisition in writing specifying the reason or cause, to require the removal of the sign. Within seven days of the service of any such requisition the person by or for whom the sign was erected and is maintained shall cause the sign to be removed unless within such period of seven days he satisfies the Chief Officer of the Fire Brigade, by remedying any defect or otherwise, that the requisition can safely be withdrawn.

4. Any requisition referred to in regulation 3 may be served either personally or by affixing the same in conspicuous position upon the premises in or on which the sign to which the requisition relates has been erected.
