4. The Colonial Secretary laid on the table the Report of the Finance Committee

(No. 13), dated the 1st December, 1932, and moved its adoption.

MOTIONS.

5. Magistrates Bill.-The Attorney General moved the Second reading of the Bill intituled An Ordinance to consolidate and amend the law relating to the jurisdiction of magistrates and the procedure and practice before magistrates in relation to offences punishable on summary conviction and to indictable offences and for other purposes.

The Colonial Secretary seconded. Question-put and agreed to.

Bill read a second time.

The Attorney General moved the suspension of so much of Standing Order No. 27 as required the Bill to be considered by clauses and that thereafter the Bill be considered, firstly by the four introductory clauses, then by the eight parts, then by the three schedules, and finally by the enacting clause and title.

Question-put and agreed to.

Council in Committee on the Bill.

At the end of Clause 32 the following words were added :---

A similar order may be made where sufficient money to satisfy the fine has been found on the defendant as the result of a previous search by the police".

Clause 116 (2) Marginal note the figures "38" were added.

On Council resuming, the Attorney General reported that the Bill had passed

through Committee with certain amendments.

His Excellency the Governor ruled that the amendments were immaterial. The Attorney General moved that the Bill be read a third time.

6. Registration of United Kingdom Patents Bill.-The Attorney General moved the Second reading of the Bill intituled An Ordinance to consolidate and amend the law relating to the Registration of United Kingdom Patents."
