1. Among or for the subscribers being Members of the Chinese Com-

munity who are permanently resident in this Colony.

2. Among or for the Members of the Chinese Community who are

permanently resident in this Colony

(e) The regulation of cracker firing, burning of sacrificial papers, incense sticks or candles, the preservation of flowers, plants, trees, turfs, tomb-stones, monuments, buildings, and other structures, property and things within the said Cemeteries.

(f) The imposition of fines for the violation of any rule of the said

Cemeteries.

(g) The engagement and dismissal of sextons and other servants

employees of the said Cemeteries and the definition and allotment of their duties.

(h) The improvement and extension of the Cemeteries and the erection of a pier near any of the Cemeteries and when erected its regulation and upkeep.

(i) And all other matters incidental and conducive to the well being, upkeep and maintenance of the said Cemeteries. Provided always that no rules relating to the said Cemeteries shall have any force or effect if they are contrary to any laws, rules or regulations for the time being in force in the Colony and until such rules shall have been first submitted to His Excellency the Governor for approval and his consent thereto in writing has been obtained.

RULE XIII.

Terraces shall be laid out in the same manner as in the Colonial Cemetery with a site reserved for a mortuary, servants quarters, latrines or any other buildings or erections as may be deemed necessary by the Board for the administration of the said Cemeteries.

RULE XIV.

The size and dimension of each grave space shall be 8 feet by 4 feet. All grave spaces other than those areas allotted to subscribers shall be used for the burial of coffins only, not of urns.

RULE XV.

Fees chargeable for grave spaces including the charge for head stones and cost of retaining wall will be as follows; namely:-

For the first grave space

For the 2nd grave space

No more than 4 grave spaces may be allotted for the burial of one coffin. Other charges for digging &c. shall be fixed from time to time by the Board and paid accordingly by the person to whom the grave spaces are allotted.

RULE XVI.

No person except a permanent resident of the Colony of Hong Kong or of the New Territories and his wife and his children, shall be permitted to be buried in the said Cemeteries. Any person who has resided continuously in the said Colony of Hong Kong or in the New Territories for a period of 8 years or more shall be deemed to be a permanent resident. Provided always that evidence of such residence shall be produced to and to the satisfaction of the Secretary.
