(b) Diverting, raising, lowering or otherwise altering permanently or temporarily, tram lines, water inains, gas mains and overhead and underground or submarine electric lines and cables.
(c) Obtaining materials such as stone, sand and filling material for the works, and conveying such material to the works in any manner what-
ever.
(d) Constructing, maintaining and running tempo- rary constructional tramways, whether aerial or on the ground level, or on staging or otherwise, and constructing, maintaining and running such tramways over, nuder or across the lines of the Hong Kong Tramway Company Limited or of any other Company authorized to lay tram lines (e) Erecting temporary buildings and piers, and set- ting up and running mechanical contrivances of all kinds for the purpose of constructing the said works.
(f) The constructing of temporary and permanent roadways including kerbing, channelling and surfacing.
(g) Removing and permanently or temporarily alter-
ing piers and landing places.
(h) Any other works whatsoever which the Governor in his discretion may consider to be, or to have been, necessary or desirable for the purpose of affecting the general intention of this Ordinance.
(4) Notification of the approval of any such works by the Legislative Council or the Finance Committee shall be published in the Gazette. This sub-section shall not apply to any works the construction and maintenance of which are validated by section 4.
2. Iu connection with any such works it shall be lawful Ancillary for the Governor to remove, destroy, divert, stop up, raise, powers. lower, inclose, or otherwise alter such streets, drains, sewers, vacant ground, wharves, piers, landing places, rails and other things as may, in the discretion of the Governor, be necessary or desirable for the purpose of effecting the works authorized by this Ordinance.

5.-(1) The owner of every vessel or float of timber Liability for shall be answerable to the Government for any damage damage to

8. 74. therewith, and the master or person having the charge of sneh vessel or float of timber through whose wilful act or negligence any such damage is done shall also be liable to make good the same; and the Government may detain any such vessel or float of timber until sufficient security has been given for the amount of damage done by the
same.
(2) Any claim or other proceedings by the Government under this section may be brought in the name of the Attorney General.
(3) Nothing in this section shall be deemed to authorise the arrest of, or proceedings against, any vessel which is the property of His Majesty or of any foreign State.
