No. S. 264.-It is hereby notified that tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon of Tuesday, the 22n1 November, 1910, for repairs to Sanitary Department Lighters Nos. 1, 2 and 4.

Specifications can be obtained at the Sanitary Board Office," Beaconsfield ".

Repairs to be executed to the satisfaction of the Government Marine Surveyor.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.

No. S. 265.-It is hereby notified that tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office until Noon on Saturday, the 26th November, 1910, for the letting by tender of the undermentioned Granite Quarry at Chu Lu Kok, Lantao Island, in the New Terri- tories, for the term of 5 years from the 1st January, 1911.

Tenders must be in form which will be supplied by the Director of Public Works and the District Officer at Beaconsfield on the deposit of $25.

The Government does not bind itself to accept the highest or any tender.

PARTICULARS OF THE LOT.

Chu Lu Kok.

Quarry Lot No. 1.

Approximate Area: 230 Acres.

CONDITIONS OF LETTING.

1. The area to be leased is shown approximately on a plan deposited in the Public Works Department and the Land Office but the exact boundaries will be defined before the issue of the Crown Lease.

2. Each party, whose tender may be accepted in writing for the Lot, shall pay into the Colonial Treasury, within Seven Days of the date of such acceptance, a sum equivalent to six months' rent of such Lot and shall also, within the same period, deposit in the Colonial Treasury approved security equal in value to at least one year's rent for the Lot, as a guarantee for the fulfilment of his tender. He shall then be entitled to and shall execute, on demand, a Lease from the Crown of the piece of ground comprised in such Lot for 5 years, at the rental specified in his tender, payable half-yearly in advance on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in every year; such Lease being in the printed form marked Form A and deposited in the Land Office.

3. The Government will permit if practicable the Lessee to erect and maintain such temporary piers and jetties, as may, in the opinion of the Director of Public Works, be reasonably necessary for the purpose of shipping stone cut in the leased quarry into junks or boats; the sites and dimensions of such temporary piers or jetties shall be subject in all respects to the approval of the Director of Public Works, who may at any time direct the removal of any such temporary pier or jetty to any other place; the expense of such removal to be borne by the Lessee.

4. Should any party whose tender is accepted fail to comply with these conditions or any of them, the sum deposited by him shall be forfeited to the Government and the tender made by him shall thereupon be deemed to be cancelled, and he shall be liable to make good any loss or damage which the Government may incur through his failure to comply with such conditions,
