Attention is drawn to the provisions of Article IX of the Treaty of Tientsin which requires every non-Chinese subject crossing the border line of the New Territories to be in possession of a passport furnished him by his national representative in China. British subjects should address themselves to H. B. M.'s Vice-Consul, Canton, for- warding at the same time the necessary fee, riz., $4.20.
