STRAITS OF MALACCA.
Fair Channel Bank.
POSITION--From Pulau Pisang Light House respectively :--
West 7.3 miles. S. 87 W. 7.1 miles. Latitude 1° 28′ 00′′ N.
Longitude 103° 8' 15" E.
Two soundings of 4 fathoms L.W.O.S. were obtained by H.M.S. Waterwitch in these positions when crossing the Fair Channel Bank.
As these soundings are half a mile apart and the locality has not yet been examined there may be less water in this vicinity.
The above affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 795 and 1355, and China Sea Directory Volume 1 Page 214.

The Master of the S.S. Foo Shing reports a derelict Fishing Junk, with mainmast gone-mizen mast still standing-drifting to the Southwest ward.
The position of the Junk at 4 p.m. on 12th instant was :---

76 miles SSE. of Waglan.
The wreck forms a danger to navigation.

Ambong Bay to Sanpanmangio Point.
The following information is given relating to Ambong and Usukan Bays and approa- ches as the result of a Survey recently completed
Shoals.
a. The least depth on the Coral Shoal situated 8 cables N. 17 E. from the extreme of Cape Ambong is 3 feet and is situated 74 cables N. 17 E. from extremity of Cape Ambong.
b. The least depth on the Coral Shoal situated 4 cables N. 7 W. from the extremity of Cape Ambong is 8 feet, and is situated 44 cables N. 71⁄2 W. from extremity of Cape Ambong.
